NEW MEDIUMS REPLACE OLD TO CAPTURE YOUTH'S POLITICAL INTEREST

In the 1960 Broadway hit "Bye Bye Birdie," Harry McAfee's lovestruck daughter causes him to spent much of the play trying to answer the question, "What's the matter with kids today?" Well I don't know what was the matter with the kids 50 years ago, but I think I figured out what's wrong with kids THESE days.

In the 50's, the transition from child to teenager, and then on to a young adult, was often accompanied with an insubordinate attitude towards authority. This attitude drove parents crazy in the 50's, and that hasn't changed one bit. What has changed though is that there is much more wrong with kids today. One blatant and obvious change in the today's adolescents is that kids in this generation do not generally have the self motivation to educate themselves on the state of the nation and current affairs. Kids have given up Newspapers and the Nightly News for ipods, video games, and text messaging. Not to be misunderstood, I do enjoy my ipod and cell phone, but I also understand the necessity of taking a personal interest and ownership of America and it's liberties. This means knowing what is going on in the country and how that relates the the constitutional role of government in the lives of all Americans. Sadly, today's youth has little to no interest in government.

This has arguably changed in the last year or so as young Americans between 18-25 had a record turnout in the 2008 presidential election. Is this because young adults are finally coming around to take a personal interest in the prosperity of America? Absolutely not. Realistically, the individuals of this demographic most likely showed up to fight the establishment, the establishment they really know nothing about. So why was it that Obama was able to rally the youth to favor him in such a successful way? One of the many reasons was his use of media in a way that had never been done before. Youtube videos, mass texts, and video game advertisements are just a few ways that the Obama campaign was able to reach out to the younger American demographic and their minuscule attention spans.

Experiencing the wrath of Obama's successful technology-based campaign, conservatives have learned form their devastating loss of political footing. This has prompted republicans to take to the internet as well. The social networking site Twitter has become a very popular medium for conservatives to get their word out. Beyond social networking sites, conservative bloggers have taken their role as commentators to even more creative heights. Some make videos and others create political cartoons and comics to represent the current state of America under the democratic regime. Steven Crowder is a young blogger who writes for HotAir.com and Big Hollywood. Other than writing, Crowder also provides commentaries on Youtube. In this video, Steven Crowder decides to mix it up with a musical representation of how Obama's first few months have gone.

Surprisingly enough, the young demographic that so ignorantly supported Obama is also the demographic that is providing rising leaders like Steven Crowder to promote truth in troubled times.

Attacking Private Citizens for Political Gain

This is Frank Ricci. He is a firefighter that serves the city of New Haven, Connecticut. Ricci was one of the the 20 fire fighters who earned promotions promised to the highest scorers on a job aptitude test. Ricci himself has Dyslexia , yet that didn't stop him from pursuing the test. He invested over $1,000 in testing materials to be sure he would score high enough for the promotion. When he did score high enough, the state decided to not issue the promotions because there were not enough minorities in the top 20 test scorers.

Working its way up the ladder of justice, "Ricci v. DeStefano" inevitably reached the Supreme Court. The appellate court, featuring appointed justice Sonia Sotomayor, had just ruled against the 20 firefighters, saying that the test itself must have been unfair to minorities. Now that Sonya Sotomayor has been appointed to the highest court in the land, Frank Ricci, along with 2 Mexican firefighters are serving as witnesses to the Sotomayor hearings. Where does this lead to now that someone threatens the initiative of the Democratic machine? Well, in an all to familiar manner, several democrats and left winged advocacy groups have brought the attack on the innocent individual. Frank Ricci, a regular citizen who won his dispute with the city, is now being personally attacked because he poses a legitimate threat to a member of the extreme liberal agenda.

According to McClatchy Newspapers, strong supporters of Sonya Sotomayor have been urging the newspaper to investigate Frank Ricci. In their own words, Ricci has a, "troubled and litigious work history." However troubling his work history may or may not have been, Ricci's work ethic was not the issue at hand in the case.

The investigation into Frank Ricci was urged by People for the American Way, a strong liberal advocacy group. They cite Ricci's involvement in a civil suit against another fire department for discrimination involving his abilities with Dyslexia. In that case, the courts ruled in favor of Mr. Ricci, that he in fact had been discriminated against. According to People for the American Way, this case from 14 years ago proves Ricci unworthy of the promotion he rightfully earned and they have resorted to personal attacks to make a mockery of him. It is disgusting that these people believe they have the right to invade the personal life of an innocent man, just because he is serving as a witness to the past rulings of a potential Supreme Court Justice.

When I heard about the way Frank Ricci was being treated, I immediate thought of how typical this is of the progressive liberal movement. Another case of liberal attacks on innocent private citizens is Joe the Plumber. While Barack Obama was on the campaign trail as a candidate of the presidency, he came across a man named Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, otherwise known as, "Joe the Plumber."

As Obama questioned the average man on the sidewalk out side of his home, Joe also began to question the democratic candidate. Here is part of the discussion between the two.

In later weeks, Barack Obama began to use Joe's story as an example of how he wanted to change the way the government taxes small businesses. In a sense, Obama was using the life and situation of "Joe the Plumber" for his own political gain. This plan backfired though, when Joe Wurzelbacher was asked about his support for Barack Obama. Mr. Wurzelbacher simply answered that he didn't support Obama's tax plan that would, in Joe's eyes, punish the hard working small businesses for being successful. It hadn't even been a full 24 hours before the Obama campaign and his supporters began the personal attacks on Joe for his treason to the movement.

It was hard for me to pick an example of liberals bashing Joe Wurzelbacher, not because they are rare occurrences, but because I really wanted my readers to see the disgusting attitudes that make these people think they are better than everyone else. In this clip, you see Cenk Uygur, the host of the "Young Turks" radio show, bashing Mr. Wurzelbacher, which Uygur has come to do quite often. There are several videos of this liberal talk show host poking fun of "Joe the Plumber," but this is just one that I chose to make my point.

These are just two examples of the Liberal regime and their personal attacks in the past year. There are plenty more, and if you are thinking about it now, I'm sure you may have come across the idea of an entire family still under attack today. Never in the history of America has any private citizen been so unashamedly bashed by the Liberals and advocacy groups as the family of Sarah Palin. Whether it's her 18 year old daughter who has already had a child, her husband who was a member of a secession group 15 years ago, or even her youngest son who suffers from Down Syndrome, nothing is off limits when it comes to the Palin's.

Perfect example: Michelle Obama says, "For the first time in my life, I'm proud to be an American." Barack Obama then says, "My family is off limits," and the media keeps quiet. When it comes to the Palins however, things are totally different. David Letterman says A-Rod knocked up Palin's daughter (who is 14 years old) in the seventh inning stretch of a Yankees game and the Huffington Post talks about Sarah Palin's youngest son Trig by calling him, "her retarded kid." Because Palin threatens the liberal agenda, none of her family is off limits.

Here is just one of many things I want made equal amongst progressives and conservatives. If the progressives are going to demand the "truth" of Trig Palin's birth history (whether or not Sarah is his true mother), I want the truth about Obama's birth history. If you were truly born in the United States, show your birth certificate. Don't show us a fake, don't show us a copy of a birth certificate all blacked out, and don't tell us it's none of our business. It is our business because you serve us.

I suppose the lesson I have learned from this is that you cannot be associated in any way to conservative politics or else you are a target. Also, if you so much as question the direction of the progressive movement, Hollywood and the progressives will attack you mercilessly whether you are a plumber, trucker, farmer, or child. I find it more important though, that future acquaintances of political voices know this. I don't know what my future holds, but I know that I want to fight and be the best contributor to conservative principles that I can be. That being said, I, and anyone else with an ambition to serve the country in such a way, must know their loved ones will be the target of liberal attacks. It's a disgrace that these people get away with it, but it will go on, until enough people tell them that it's not acceptable.

UH OH! OBAMA PULLS A "SLICK WILLY"

In the 90's, President Clinton turned the country upside down after he led investigators on a wild goose chase regarding his affair with Monica Lewinsky. During this time, we got a clear view of who "Slick Willy" truly was. Nearly a decade after he left the oval office though, Clinton's name is still often synonymous with that trouble-making intern.

Fast Forward to 2009. No, Obama hasn't cheated on his wife (and I hope he doesn't), but the paparazzi flash bulbs finally caught Obama making an error of judgment. Don't Worry Mr. President, this wont affect my opinion of you or your policies. We all make mistakes, and plus, you already make my job here way too easy.

AMERICAN'S ANGER WITH THE GOVERNMENT REACHES HISTORIC NEW LEVEL

It has been 8 months since Obama has been elected and time cant creep any slower. As the saying goes, "time flies when you're having fun," but I feel like I am in an alternate universe and the exact opposite is happening. How is it that Barack Obama can go from the Illinois State Senate, to the U.S. Senate, to Democratic Presidential Nominee, to President of the United States, all in a matter of 4 years, but once he gets there, all of time stops on a dime?

Is it possible that Obama has been riding his charisma throughout his entire political career and not just since he declared his candidacy for the office of President? I think it's very likely. Now that he is in the Oval Office though, Obama's knack for speeding through things has carried over into his agenda. Since taking office, he has quadrupled the national debt, headed the the largest tax increase in American history, and taken unemployment to its highest level in over 25 years.

After seeing my country virtually flipped upside down by the democratic "leaders" in Washington DC, it made me realize how much I miss the days when a political talk meant discussing social issues. Now I don't even get to discuss social issues because I, like other conservatives, are busy trying to defend the fundamentals of American capitalism, the fundamentals this country was founded on and the fundamentals that I so ignorantly thought were indestructible. Apparently, they aren't fundamentals to the Liberal leaders though, because Obama, Pelosi, and Reid are having no problem destroying the American freedoms of capitalism.

While I agree, no president is ever going to make the entire population 100% happy, there is something to say about a president who generates an unmatched animosity like Obama does. Under his presidency I have seen anger taken to the next level in all different forms. When this happens, people feel such an overwhelming disconnect with their leaders, they can sometimes feel their last resort is to take action into their own hands. In my opinion, using violence to make a point should never be acceptable in the United States, but some people take it there. A perfect example is the Killing of Dr. George Tiller.

George Tiller was a late term abortion doctor who, as I covered earlier, was killed by an angry pro-life extremist. In his many years of performing such services, George Tiller aborted approximately 60,000 3rd trimester babies. Does that make you mad, because it sure pisses me off? Well in the eyes of Tiller's murderer, these acts were more than outrageous and because the government wasn't going to do anything about it he took it into his own hands. Now if it took over 20 years for someone to act out against George Tiller, How long do you think it will take for someone to act out against our dictator-like government that continues to steal power in such a Fascist manner?

Once again, I am in no way advocating the use of violence to advance a political position. Such actions are not productive, but can often arise out of the people's discontent with the political system. Another example of common Americans becoming discontent with politicians is YouTube's "Walstreetpro2". This economics guru is a regular contributor to the famous online financial newsletter Davian letter and has a unique way of letting out his anger towards the leaders in Washington. I can say all I want about the use of violence and its absurdity, but the truth of the matter is, Americans are angry. They are tired of being lied to and tired of not being represented. The members of congress have strayed too far away from their original duty which is to serve the country and by definition, the citizens who elected them. Now they serve themselves through their mentality that can be described as nothing more than elitist. I would never wish physical harm upon our political leaders, but it would be ignorant of them to believe their work in D.C. is acceptable to us in the real world.

JACKSON'S DEATH STEALS THE MEDIA'S ATTENTION FROM ANYTHING NEWSWORTHY


Since Michael Jackson’s death 12 days ago (June 25, 2009), There has been very little going on in the World. In a sense, all the nations have ceased any newsworthy activity in reverence of MJ. There have been zero soldiers killed in the recent surge into Afghanistan, There have been no major motions out of congress, and ruthless dictators who have threatened us in the past have remained stagnant. Al Gore has let off the global warming guilt trip for the last week and a half and the courts have not ruled in favor of a raunchy comedian to put him into the United States Senate.


Obviously none of this is true, in fact much has been going on in the world and here in the United States, yet the American people have been robbed of the truth by our great media sources. While I naturally expected MTV, VH1, and BET to do their 24 hour, wall to wall coverage (good thing he was “black” or else BET wouldn’t have noticed), I was ignorantly surprised that true media outlets abandoned the news all together for their own memorials.



While CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, and even Fox News covered Michael Jackson like the Berlin Wall had just come down, here is what you may have missed.


In a speech to English college students, Al Gore said that it is difficult to persuade the public that the threat from climate change, in fact, is as urgent as the threat from Nazi Germany. I’m sure there are about 10 million Jews that would disagree with you Al.

As for North Korea, they launched 7 short range missiles on the fourth of July despite being scorned numerous times by the rest of the world. Hugo Chavez once again called the United States the devil, and the Iranian dictators are accusing us of meddling in their elections. Just a handful of chump-change compared to Michael Jackson's death though.


After being declared the loser in the Minnesota senate race last November, former SNL star and comedian Al Franken sued the state. Yesterday the courts declared Franken the true winner after ruling that several of his opponents ballots “didn’t count.” That’s some powerful authority, to be able to essentially say, “No, your vote doesn’t count.”


While the media was trying to decide who would get Jackson’s money and kids, the House of Representatives was on a much more serious course. Although 40 democrats voted against the ‘Cap and Trade Bill’, the liberals still had enough votes to pass a bill that threatens to create the largest tax increase in American history. It doesn’t create jobs, It makes every American’s energy costs skyrocket in an attempt to get us to “utilize less energy.” Barack Obama himself said that his cap and trade plan would essentially, bankrupt the coal industry. On this basis, how does Nancy Pelosi think such a bill could create jobs? The simple answer is that she doesn’t. The truth is, congressional leaders such as Pelosi have hundreds of thousands of dollars invested in “clean energy” companies, and a bill like this is the perfect way to fill up their bank accounts.


Probably more shocking than anything, is the coverage of Michael Jackson’s death and lack of coverage for the soldiers who have died in the last week from the surge into Afghanistan. 1st Lt. Brian Bradshaw is just one of 13 soldiers to have died in Afghanistan since Michael Jackson’s death, yet the media has simply turned their back. Bradshaw’s mother said, “"I can watch the news many nights and there's no mention of what's going on in Afghanistan or Iraq and there's boys dying over there.”

With the media ignoring the important news in the world, it was only a matter of time that someone spoke out against the excessive Jackson coverage. New York Representative Peter King did just that and was immediately labeled a racist by black leaders and the congressional black caucus.

Its funny how easily the term racist is thrown around by black people, yet there is no response when Al Sharpton says, “White folks was in caves while we was building empires. We taught philosophy and astrology and mathematics before Socrates and them Greek homos ever got around to it.”


My message to Sharpton: Get learned some English ya racist.

THE THIN LINE BETWEEN POLITICS AND PERSONAL LIFE

Last week I wrote a blog about the up and coming John Ensign, a U.S. Senator from the state of Nevada. Ensign is currently in his second term as a senator after serving in the House of Representatives. Recent actions and speeches have hinted that Ensign has been contemplating a presidential run in 2012, though he had not released an official statement on the matter. It seemed like the ball was beginning to roll for Senator Ensign's political future, but then today, things got a little more complicated.

In a statement to the AP, John Ensign admitted to being involved in an affair last year. According to Senator Ensign, the incident was kept within the family, but speculators have insinuated that the senator was forced to go public after being blackmailed on the issue. Regardless of the specifics within the affair, my purpose is not to write another article on the matter. What really matters is, where do we go from here?

The most important issue in these cases is how does the individual react and take responsibility for their own actions. Senator Ensign came forward and admitted his faults to the press and then went on to issue a televised statement on the issue. He said:

"Last year I had an affair. I violated the vows of my marriage. It is the worst thing I have ever done in my life. If there was ever anything in my life that I could take back, this would be it."
There is no doubt that the Senator will take flak for this incident long into the future, but judging by the content of character it took to react how he did, Should Ensign's political career be over? Absolutely not. Yes it was an act of bad judgment, but the truth of the matter is, this was a personal matter that Ensign chose to be nothing but honest about. We can look into the past for political scandals and see how very prominent politicians have responded to their own scandals. Need I remind you of this such incident...

There is a clear difference between how Senator John Ensign handled the situation, versus how he could have gone about it. Under Clinton's presidency, the American people were repeatedly lied to and conned by the president himself while trying to cover up his own shame. This is not the case with Mr. Ensign. Because of his honesty towards his family and the state of Nevada, Senator Ensign should not be portrayed in the negative manor that politicians in the past have been when trying to run away from the truth.

This is undoubtedly an embarrassing mistake, but the character shown in response to the incident has kept me behind Senator Ensign. As of now, I also hold strong to my support for Ensign to make a run for the Presidency in 2012. As for now, I extend my thoughts and prayers to the Ensign family and hope for nothing but the best for them, the Senate, and the state of Nevada.

"SAVE DARFUR, BUT NOT IRAQ"

It has become a definitive trait of the left-wing progressives to expose their own hypocrisy where ever their protest seeking hearts take them. One of the most classic examples is the fad-like hype of the "Save Darfur" campaign. Even the online t-shirt company BustedTees.com saw the absurdity of American celebrities and their mindless followers in making genocide a fashion statement. Check out this shirt sold by BustedTees in which they overlay a "Save Darfur" message on a silhouette of South America, blatantly poking fun at people who hop on the Darfur train strictly for the fad, yet have no idea. (Hint: If you don't get the pun, Darfur is in Africa, not South America.)

So why are these people hypocrites you ask? Well, the conflict in Darfur has some striking similarities to a topic of hot debate we have been arguing over here in America. Before I tell you what it is though, here are the facts of Darfur.

The "Save Darfur" campaign was created to stand up for the human rights of people living in this specific region of Chad. Those living in Darfur have become victims to ethnic discrimination, which has led to acts of mass murder. Some would call it mass genocide. The UN estimates that the mortality rate is somewhere around 10,000 lives lost in the region, while other advocacy groups say its more like 400,000 deaths.

Now, how does this parallel to a current event in America? If you hadn't made the connection yet, this ethnic conflict in Darfur is strikingly similar to Iraq. Not Iraq now, but the Iraq we liberated in 2003. Since 1979, Iraq had been ruled by the brutal dictator Saddam Hussein. As a Sunni himself, Hussein took power despite 73% of the population being of Shi'ite belief, a threat in Saddam's eyes. This is why, over his tenure as dictator, Iraqi President Saddam Hussein killed and arrested thousands of innocent people whom Hussein felt was a threat.

It's now 2003- Enter the United States. the U.S. military has captured Saddam Hussein from hiding in a spider hole, and turned him over to the Iraqi government. After standing trial, Saddam Hussein was sentenced to death for crimes against humanity by his own nation. The United States then worked with the Iraqi government to build a democracy, giving rights and freedoms to the newly liberated 35 million citizens of Iraq.

Despite the dangerous, yet committed efforts of the U.S. military, progressives and celebrities alike were quick to jump out and condemn America's actions in Iraq. Quite hypocritically though, these same celebrities that spoke hatefully of our actions in Iraq, are also speaking hatefully about not doing those same things in Darfur. What makes the Darfur victims worthy of liberation but not the victims of Saddam Hussein?

In condemning the war in Iraq, George Clooney said, "We're picking on people we can beat." Then, as a voice for a different movement he said, "The critical hour for Darfur is now!"

George Clooney isn't the only celebrity making a fool of himself over the Darfur fad either. Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett, Angelina Jolie, and Jessica Biel (just to name a few) have also thrown their name into the "ethical pot" for the Darfur refugees, while also condemning the liberation of Iraq. Just as these celebrities express their hypocritical ideals from behind podiums or Ferrari steering wheels, mindless 'star-struck' followers have taken up the initiative by purchasing their own witty t-shirt slogans. Figures why the rest of the world sees America as a nation full of idiots.

OBAMA: THE SECOND COMING?

It's no surprise that the loons on the left reacted to the emergence of Barack Obama as if he was a political rock star.

After an Obama speech, MSNBC's Chris Matthew's said, "It's part of reporting this case, this election, the feeling most people get when they hear Barack Obama's speech. My, I felt this thrill going up my leg. I mean, I don't have that too often."

Then there was Oprah Winfrey who, at an Iowa rally, said, "I've never taken this kind of risk before nor felt compelled to stand up and speak out before because there wasn't anyone to to stand up and speak up for. I know [Barack Obama] is the one."

Later on, Oprah would deny Sarah Palin an interview stating, "I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates." Doesn't it seem kind of weird that a talk show host who prides herself on empowering women would turn her back on one of the most high profile females within American politics? It's simply because these television faces wouldn't dare to threaten the image of their favorite superstar.

In just a few months, Obama had been transformed from his true identity as a freshman senator, into a phony superhero. Being as it was so easy for Obama to be transformed from a nobody in congress, to a rock star, and then to a superhero, it shouldn't surprise anybody that Obama's next move was to take the position of God. He may not have made the claim himself, but Obama had (and still has) several left-wing cronies perpetuating the illusion of his Divinity. Even the progressive crazies at MSNBC have bought into the Messiah illusion...

OBAMA TAKES MORE CONTROL, ONE CZAR AT A TIME

In the two and a half months between winning a presidential election and Inauguration Day, the President Elect has a lot of work to do as far as organizing there cabinet. The easy part is selecting the nominees to the various secretary positions. The hard part is convincing congress to confirm them.

It might seem tedious, but congressional confirmation is vitally important to the President's appointees because it keeps the president from taking total control of the government and negating the separation of powers. It also allows congress to stop the president from appointing somebody that may not be able to perform the job in an effective manor. While President Elect, Barack Obama selected Bill Richardson as his appointee to the Secretary of Commerce position. Following a month of investigation and senate scrutiny, Bill Richardson removed himself from contention after a federal grand jury announced an investigation into Richardson's pay-to-play dealings. A similar situation ensued regarding Obama's original Health and Human Services nominee Tom Daschle after it surfaced that Daschle had skipped out on paying his taxes to the amount of over $140,000. Knowing that congress would never confirm his nomination, Daschle backed out of contention. It's cases like this that prove the importance of congressional confirmation.

But what if the President could appoint people that didn't have to be confirmed and answered to nobody except the President himself? It isn't a far stretch. In fact, this is what Barack Obama is doing right now. By creating a "Czar" for a specific issue, Obama does not have to go through congress, and the Czar is not subject to congressional hearings or accountability. Since the beginning of American history, from Washington to Bush, all presidents combined have appointed 22 Czars in 233 years. There have been so few in history because appointing a Czar is done under special and dire circumstances. This is why the citizens of America should be especially alarmed at the rate in which President Obama has appointed his own army of Czars.

If there have only been 22 Czar's in the history of the United States, would you believe that in his first 5 months, Obama has already appointed 21 Czar's of his own? Not only should you believe it, but you should fear it. These are powerful positions of influence that do not have to be confirmed by anyone, yet answer to Obama alone.

The separation of powers ensures that no one person, or group, can take ultimate power over every other branch of government and this includes the executive branch. While past presidents have used czars for special interest purposes such as President Reagan's Drug Czar, or Clinton's AIDS Czar, Barack Obama is using czars to take complete control over virtually every political issue in the United States.

The question is, "Why?"
Why do we need a Health Czar when we have a Secretary of Health and Human Services?
Why do we need a Housing Czar when we have a Secretary of Housing and Urban Development?
Why do we need an Energy and Environment Czar when we have a Secretary of Energy?

Political Opposites: Lincoln to Obama


On April 15, 1865, Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth in the Ford's Theater after. Booth's original plan was to kidnap Lincoln but after a compelling speech by the President on black voting rights, Booth's plan changed. Fast forward 143 years. America has just elected the first black president, Barack Obama. On the long and stressful path to the White House, the Obama campaign (including the mainstream media) perpetuated a great myth that Barack Obama and Abraham Lincoln were one in the same. In reality, there are very few political traits to compare the two on.

There is an obvious historical relationship between Lincoln and Obama, as the election of a black president would not have been possible without the abolishing of slavery by Abraham Lincoln. While it may be an interesting piece of history, it does not accurately represent the political similarities between Obama and Lincoln. Both men spent much of their adult lives in the state of Illinois, but once again, this is nothing more than an item for the next edition of the "Trivial Pursuit" board game.

President Obama is sworn in using the Lincoln family Bible. He insisted on doing so, straying from the normal procedure of using the George Washington bible that has been used to swear in every other president in American history. Obama even traced the train route Lincoln took to his own inauguration.

The reason there is no evidence of similar political policies is simply that there are no political similarities between the two. The Obama loving Chris Matthews (click here to see) once tried to argue that they are similar in that both Lincoln and Obama are on a mission to unite the people of America. The obvious flaw with this argument is that Lincoln literally united a country that was divided. While the Confederacy fought to secede from America and own the lives of other human beings, the Union army fought to free all men and keep the nation intact. Lincoln was uniting a nation on the verge of splitting in two. The only divided entities that Obama is trying to unite are the Marxists who want to leach off of the hard work of others and then the actual hard workers who want to enjoy the fruits of their own labor. Obama's quest of unity is none more than a figurative way to get reelected in 2012 and keep the country under democratic control for as long as possible despite the nosedive our country has taken on all fronts from the democratic "leadership".

Beyond the subtle differences between President Lincoln and President Obama, there is one fatal flaw in comparing the two. This flaw is how the two view the American dream of being able to live in a nation of Liberty.

In 1864, Lincoln said:
We all declare for liberty; but in using the same word we do not all mean the same thing. With some the word liberty may mean for each man to do as he pleases with himself, and the product of his labor; while with others the same word may mean for some men to do as they please with other men, and the product of other men's labor. Here are two, not only different, but incompatible things, called by the same name- liberty. And it follows that each of these things is, by the respective parties, called by two different and incompatible names- liberty and tyranny.
The context of Lincoln's speech shows that his conservative principles identify his interpretation of liberty as one man's ability to enjoy his successes as an effect of his hard work. How does this conservative principle align with Barack Obama's interpretation of liberty?

In this video, "Joe the Plumber," as made famous by Obama's campaign, confronts the president to be with a question on how he will be taxed more for owning a successful business. Obama outlines his "take from the rich" mentality and in the final seconds of the video expresses his true desire of redistributing the wealth.



Both Barack Obama and Abraham Lincoln will long be remembered in history for different things, but they should not be remembered for their similarities to one another. President Lincoln was a true conservative who stood for the hardworking man and his ability to take enjoyment in the successes of his work. Obama on the other hand, will continue to increase taxes on the rich and "redistribute the wealth," as he puts it. President Obama's political philosophy represents the principles of Karl Marx as his actions mirror the communist credo, "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need."

Looking to the Future of 2012, The GOP, and Senator John Ensign (R-NV)


Since the successful election of Barack Obama last November, democrats have been perpetuating the notion that the republican party is in disarray and without leadership. Moderate democrats argue that Rush Limbaugh is bad for the party and staunch conservatives claim John McCain is not a true conservative. The truth of the matter is that the republican party is down, but by no means out. While the democrats would like us to think they are sitting comfortably atop every branch of government in the United States, some republican congressmen are giving us reason to believe the race for 2012 is already here.

Something I have recently learned about the science of running for political office is that announcing your candidacy must be done at exactly the right time. Jumping into the political race earlier may give you more time to raise the finances for the campaign trail, but it also gives your opponents more time to dig up the dirt and attack your political platform. This is why, the news media often begs the question, "Will you be running for president in the next election?" Almost always the politician in question will give a stereotypical political answer such as, "Ummm, I haven't given it any thought." Despite these vague answers, you can bet several conservatives are already considering a possible 2012 run. One of the candidates that I has very strong potential to represent the GOP is junior senator John Ensign from Nevada.

This week, Senator Ensign took a trip to Iowa to meet the people and get his face out beyond the state lines of Nevada. But as a Nevada member of the United States Senate, why would John Ensign care to leave his constituents in the battle born state to indulge in some ice cream at a local parlor in a rural Iowa town? Maybe it has something to do with the fact that Iowa is the first stop on the long trek through the presidential primary race.

Along with his recent visits to other states, John Ensign has made several trips to meet with the troops in Iraq dating back to 2003. Senator Ensign has also recently visited the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan and the southern border in response to the escalated war on drugs.

As far as his membership in the Senate, Mr. Ensign is the ranking member of the Subcommittee on State, Local, and Private Sector Preparedness and Integration. He also serves as the ranking member of the Subcommittee on Communications, Technology, and the Internet. Some other Senate committees John Ensign serves on are:

The Budget Committee
The Finance Committee
The Committee on Rules and Administration
The Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee

As a veterinarian by profession, Senator Ensign's passion for animals led him to be a lead sponsor of the Animal Fighting Prohibition Enforcement Act. Other sponsors of the act included Maria Cantwell of Washington, Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, and Dianne Feinstein of California, all of which are democrats.

Finally, in what is likely to be a hot topic in the 2012 election, Senator John Ensign has proved to have an outstanding track record on fiscal responsibility. Citizens Against Governmental Waste, a financial watchdog group, gave John Ensign a 97% rating for the year of 2007, bringing his lifetime fiscal responsibility rating to 92%, the 4th highest in the entire U.S. Senate. This compares John Ensign's Nevada counterpart, democrat Harry Reid, who has accumulated an 18% lifetime rating for fiscal responsibility, not to mention an astonishing 0% for the year 2007. With President Obama's massive debt accumulation and government expansion in his first 4 months alone, Senator John Ensign's sense of financial restraint will be a valuable asset if he so chooses to take the next step towards the presidential race in 2012.

Infamous Late Term Abortion Doctor "Tiller the Baby Killer" Shot and Killed

Within the last few hours, news has broke that the nationally famous Dr. George Tiller was shot and killed outside of the Reformation Lutheran Church. Dr. Tiller has been a common name around the abortion debate for decades as he is one of the only late term abortion providers in the United States. On his very own website, Dr. Tiller's practice states:

"We have an unparalleled record of safety in late abortion services and we have more experience in late abortion services over 24 weeks than anyone else currently practicing in the Western Hemisphere, Europe and Australia."

In the past, Tiller's office has been protested, prayed upon, and even bombed in 1985. Tiller was even shot in both of his arms by a protester in 1993. While he has always been seen as an "evil man" by the strong pro-life advocacy groups, Dr. Tiller's name became famous a few weeks after Barack Obama's inauguration as the 44th President of The United States.

As Obama began to fill his cabinet of secretaries, his nomination for Health and Human Services Secretary, Kathleen Sibelius (former Kansas governor), came under heavy fire from conservatives for her shady dealings with a Wichita, Kansas abortion provider. That's right, your HHS Secretary and Dr. Tiller have a little more than state residency in common. In fact they are great friends. In 2005, Sibelius drew great amounts of criticism from her constituents after she hosted a reception in Dr. Tiller's honor at her very own taxpayer-paid home known as Cedar Crest.

Further investigation found that Dr. Tiller was a heavy financial donor to Sibelius' gubernatorial campaigns along with Planned Parenthood. Under Kathleen Sibelius' governorship, Kansas voters and congressmen alike brought forth anti-abortion legislation and more strict regulations on abortion practices. Despite the voice of the people, Sibelius vetoed every motion for abortion regulations that came across her desk. Anti-abortion legislation was vetoed by Sibelius in 2003, 2005, 2006, and then in 2008 shortly before the president promoted her to run the Health and Human Services Department.

In the coming days, I anticipate liberal pundits to blame Tiller's murder on the Right-wing voices such as Sean Hannity and Rush Limbough or even Bill O'Reilly who coined the term, "Tiller the Baby Killer." Some right winged extremists will even say, "Good for the shooter. This guy deserved to die." I say it's sad (and wrong) when anyone's life is stripped from them before their true time has come whether it is the thousands of third-trimester babies that Tiller aborted or George Tiller himself.

The bigger picture here goes back to the government and the role it should play in its service to the people it should be serving. A recent Gallop poll showed that for the first time in its keeping records, the nation more identifies themselves as pro-life (shown below).


George Tiller's murder should not to be seen as an isolated incident. As the government continues to go against the desires of those who put them in power, Incidents like this will continue. Politicians have the power to make changes in the way our country is run and this power allows for swift and peaceful alterations in American policy. On the other hand, when politicians ignore the voice of their constituents to such an extreme degree, citizens often find there to be no other choice than to take the law into their own hands. When this happens, there is not peace, but often violent and aggressive ramifications because there is no other way for the common man to make their voice, and the voice of the majority in this case, heard.

The dissenting views of the early colonials caused them to break away from Great Britain and declare their separation. I believe this excerpt taken from the Declaration of Independence is a prophecy of what's to come if the politicians don't start listening to those who elected them.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
